INSIGHT by the Circular Investment Readiness Network
In an era where sustainability has taken centre stage, the CircularInvest project gives cities and regions the chance to embrace the circular way of life.
CircularInvest is a project funded by the European Union to support the Circular Cities and Regions Initiative (CCRI) and facilitate the circular transition in Europe. To this end, the project has just launched a call to help local and regional authorities attract investments for the implementation of circular solutions.
Circular economy projects have the potential to revolutionise the way we think about resources and products. Yet, the path from concept to realisation can be challenging, particularly when seeking financial backing. CircularInvest offers free tailor-made services to bridge this gap and help circular innovators find potential investors. Its Project Development Assistance programme is designed to bring circular economy projects into full maturity and prepare them for investment, thus maximising their chances of securing financial resources.
The programme addresses key areas such as business plan development, circularity optimisation and fundraising. The services are provided by four supporting organisations – INOVA+, META Group, Circle Economy, and ICLEI Europe – and include, among others, mentoring sessions, peer-to-peer workshops, pitching seminars, knowledge transfer events, networking opportunities with potential investors, and promotional support.
Circular project developers are invited to submit their applications by 15 December 2023. Detailed information and access to the application portal are available at www.circularinvest.eu
To further support circular economy projects in overcoming development and funding challenges, CircularInvest partnered up with DEFINITE-CCRI to launch the Circular Investment Readiness Network (CIRN). The network brings together circular economy stakeholders and will serve as a platform to promote good practices and collaboration.
The first session of the network will take place online on November 21st from 10:00 to 11:30 CET.
Investors, city representatives, entrepreneurs, and circular economy experts will enhance the discussion, shedding light on the most common issues related to the implementation of circular projects, like the dos and don’ts when seeking investments, the importance of assessing environmental and social impacts, how to create the right conditions for circular businesses to thrive in, and much more.
